I am an economist at the U.S. Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in the Information Technology Laboratory’s AI Research, Measurement, and Standards Division. My research applies social science methods to AI measurement challenges, including the measurement of AI adoption and productivity, AI program evaluation, and developing measurement frameworks for frontier AI capabilities.
Previously, I spent several years in NIST’s Engineering Laboratory researching the economics of disaster resilience, including predictive models for seismic retrofit costs, benefit-cost analysis for functional recovery design, and community resilience measurement.
I received a PhD in economics, as well as an MS in statistics, from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
